Scary Sharks!

As it’s Halloween, I thought I would cover a ‘scary’ topic: Sharks!

I am sure like anyone else who watched Jaws when they were little (or big!), you might have a certain amount of trepidation when swimming in the sea when you can’t see your feet…? Not helped of course by the fact that Australia is well known for its resident shark population. However, what you need to remember is that a shark attack is VERY unlikely…

A lovely sunny day…

Today is a lovely sunny day here on the South Coast where I live, and even though I need a jumper on when I step outside, I can almost believe it’s summer!

I am definitely a bit of a sun worshipper, but I am also a very sensible sun worshipper these days, and you should be too if you are planning a trip Down Under.

An Australian Christmas?

Is it too late to book flights for Christmas 2007 Down Under?

Now it’s officially ‘winter’ and it’s getting dark really early… so is it time to start thinking about Christmas?

Well, we’re not big Christmas people in our house (I know, bah Humbug and all that!), and instead we’ve spent three recent Christmases in Australia (much better than a selection pack and a pair of socks, I think!).  Last Christmas we did spend at home, however, but with a pretty good excuse – our daughter Alex was only 6 days old by Christmas day, and wasn’t really ready for the flight (we waited ’til she was 4 months old before taking her Down Under!).

The question everyone always asks… when is the best time to go on holiday to Australia?

Usually meaning…when are the cheapest flights to Australia?

For somewhere to start my blog about Australia, then I thought was no better opener than my advice on how and when to get there.

What I have asked are in fact two very, very different questions – “when is the best time to visit?” is NOT the same as “when is the cheapest time to fly or visit?” (although if your wallet is your main concern, then arguably the two may be the very same question of course!).
