90 years of flights to Australia

Now you’re going to have to hurry as there is a 90-hour countdown on to grab these flights while they are available (literally on the Qantas website there is a countdown clock ticking!).

As part of their 90th anniversary celebrations Qantas have some special offers fares to many Australian destinations for 2011.

Here’s the official word from Qantas:

Celebrate 90 years with Qantas the Spirit of Australia. For 90 hours only take advantage of our great sale fares and fly down under with Qantas from £590*

These deals are available for departures from 25 April to 20 June 2011. Sale starts 6:00am GMT Saturday 20 November and ends 11.59pm GMT Tuesday 23 November 2010, unless sold out prior. Availability is limited.

I’ll be honest with you theses are good fares, but they are not spectacular. I can’t imagine you’ll not see the same prices or cheaper with other airlines, but they are good prices and if you’re looking to fly to Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane for £590 (Perth only) or £690 (all the other places mentioned) then now’s the time to book.

What are actually good deals, and because of the connections that Qantas can offer across Australia with its national network of connecting flights are the Walkabout deals. For the same £690 you can actually fly into Perth from London, and out of Brisbane home (with the internal flight included). Now this is looking like a much better deal. Another example Qantas give is a flight into Sydney from London Heathrow and down to Melbourne (flight) and back from Melbourne to London – for only £715 (so if you look at the fares on offer that’s £25 for a flight Sydney to Melbourne which is pretty good value).

Worth noting that the time these flights are for is the low season and most airlines will offer their cheapest fares of the year at this time (after Easter, before the summer holidays – European summer).

So while I am sharing these ‘deals’ with you, it’s also my opinion that these won’t be the only fares available for this time of year at these sorts of prices… BUT if you want to combine international flights with internal ones in Australia on Qantas then these could be good fares to buy now and get a good price on.

I’ve seen most long haul travel agents offering these fares, and you can also book direct with Qantas here.
